TrackerGuard

A structural-monitoring solution for photovoltaic plants: a compact sensor node mounted behind the panel plane gives direct structural visibility of every solar tracker, with a live 3D demo and pilot economics.

The problem

Solar trackers can degrade structurally with little warning, and operators have no per-tracker structural visibility until issues surface as energy loss or breakage.

What it does

Brings low-cost structural sensing from bridge-monitoring research to PV plants: per-tracker response data, early warning and maintenance prioritisation, without shading the modules.

Who it is for

For PV plant owners, EPCs and O&M teams evaluating structural-monitoring pilots on solar tracker fleets.

Structural monitoring for solar trackers: per-tracker visibility before failure

The blind spot of tracker fleets

A utility-scale photovoltaic plant runs thousands of single-axis trackers exposed to wind and fatigue, yet operators have no per-tracker structural visibility. Problems are discovered when they already cost money: lost production, misaligned rows or broken components after a storm.

What TrackerGuard proposes

A compact sensor node mounted behind the panel plane — without shading the modules — measures the real structural response of each tracker. The concept transfers low-cost structural-health-monitoring methods from bridge research to photovoltaic plants: per-tracker response data, early warning of degradation and maintenance prioritisation. The site includes a live 3D demo and the economics of a pilot deployment.

A typical example

After a storm, an O&M team with tens of thousands of trackers must decide where to send the crews first. With per-tracker structural data, inspection starts at the trackers showing anomalous response instead of walking the whole plant row by row.
